Directions From Maun

Route 1 via Mababe Village – water crossings

We do not recommend this route in the flood season unless your car has a snorkel and you are confident driving through deep water (it may come over your bonnet). Please contact us closer to your time of travel to get an update on the level of the water crossings.

  • from Maun (Matlapaneng Circle) head out on the Shorobe road towards Moremi:
  • 50.63km - road splits - left-hand side to South Gate, right-hand side to Mogotlho and Mababe – GO RIGHT
  • Make sure you don’t cross water just before Mababe village. There is a detour to go around the water.
  • From where the roads split - 59.8km - Mababe Metal Bridge - when you go over the metal bridge keep to the left where the road splits and stay on the calcrete/ gravel.
  • Stay on the gravel road. 33.6km - White Concrete Bridge
  • Drive across the Concrete Bridge for 3.8km, you will see a property on the right and you will be at KHWAI GUEST HOUSE.
  • 100m after Khwai Guest House turn left and head towards the river, keep right and you will arrive at SANGO SAFARI CAMP.

Route 2 via Moremi – Not recommended after rains have commenced

  • From Maun (Matlapaneng Circle) head out on the Shorobe road towards Moremi
  • 50.63km - road splits - left-hand side to South Gate, right-hand side to Mogotlho and Mababe village – GO LEFT.
  • 36km - to South Gate, enter Moremi (you can pay park fees at the gate or prepay in Maun at the DWNP office)
  • 30km - to North Gate, exit Moremi and stay onto the main road through Khwai Village
  • 2.2km - continue on the main road – at the other end of the village
  • 150 m before the concrete bridge, turn right and head towards the river, keep right and you will arrive at SANGO SAFARI CAMP.

 

Directions From Savuti 

Route 1 Direct – Water Crossings

  • Exit Chobe National Park at Mababe Gate
  • 12km - intersection with the new calcrete road, turn right towards Khwai Village
  • 30km - new bridge
  • Stay on the gravel road. 33.6km - White Concrete Bridge
  • Drive across the Concrete Bridge for 3.8km, ou will see a property on the right and you will be at KHWAI GUEST HOUSE
  • 100m after Khwai Guest House turn left and head towards the river, keep right and you will arrive at SANGO SAFARI CAMP.

Route 2 – Via Mababe And Moremi – Not recommended after rains have commenced

  • Exit Chobe National Park at Mababe Gate
  • 12km - intersection with the new calcrete road, turn left towards Mababe Village
  • 3.5km to the Mababe Bridge, proceed through Mababe towards Sankoyo Village
  • 22km – to the cut line, turn right (you will be entering Moremi National Park)
  • 9km – turning towards North Gate, turn right and proceed along this track
  • 25km – to North Gate (where you can pay park fees), exit Moremi and stay on the main road through Khwai Village
  • 2.2km - continue on the main road – at the other end of the village
  • 150 m before the concrete bridge, turn right and head towards the river, keep right and you will arrive at SANGO SAFARI CAMP
